Rebecca Francis Apple-Haslanger, 1953-2012

Rebecca Frances Apple-Haslanger, 59, of South Bend, IN passed away at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN. due to complications from A.L.S.  She was born on May 23, 1953 in Salem, IN to the late Max and Zoe Anna (Burton) Apple.  She married Mark R. Haslanger on May 5, 1990 at the First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, IN.

Rebecca graduated with a pharmaceutical degree from Purdue University.  This never surprised her family and friends because her father was a pharmacist and owned Apple Drugs in Salem, IN.  Rebecca also became a dentist and owned Michiana Dental Center, located in the Sherland Building. She retired in 1987 due to Multiple Sclerosis.  Even when in poor health, she always put her friends first.  Rebecca dearly loved all animals and they were a big part of her life.  Rebecca’s strong faith helped her through her disabilities.

Rebecca is survived by her husband, Mark, of 22 years;  brother, James Boyd (Diana) Apple of Salem, IN; sister in law, Ruth (Robert) Yeager of Evansville, IN and nephews  Rick Yeager of Cincinnati, OH Dan Apple of Scottsburg, IN and Dr. James Apple of Calgary, Canada.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday  May 30, 2012 at Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 61770 Miami Road, South Bend, IN.  Friends may visit with family one hour prior to funeral services where Reverend Craig Clapper will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend, IN.  Palmer Funeral Home-Lakeville is assisting the family with arrangements.
